Trustee Matt has taken part in Indian Ocean projects since the turn of the century. |
He has held the posts of Science Officer, Dive Officer and Expedition Leader. One of the expeditions he was on culminated in an award from Buckingham Palace. He has recently set up a new green enterprise called Gnewt Group and hopes the Blue Ventures team will be riding around on his electric scooters before long.
He is passionate about the environment and all things to do with the sea (apart from the Crown of Thorns starfish). He is particularly happy to have helped set up the first Blue Ventures field base in Madagascar and is ecstatic to now see the real positive impact of Blue Ventures amongst the people and environment in the region.
Matt graduated in Geography from Edinburgh University and went on to spend a year studying development studies at Oxford University’s Department of International Development. He then decided to take this knowledge into the financial services industry and so went to work for BNY Mellon Asset Management International showing a keen interest in social, environmental and ethical investments.
He recently founded a new green enterprise, Gnewt Group and now concentrates on building this business full time. Outside of the office Matt enjoys windsurfing and kitesurfing, oh, and beating Al in triathlons.
