Georgi has a Masters in Oceanography from the University of Bordeaux.

She developed her passion for sea cucumbers after joining an expedition to southeast Sulawesi where she studied the impact of the reef gleaning fishery for her dissertation. After graduating in 2003 with a degree in Marine Sciences with French from the University of Southampton, she spent the next three years travelling and working seasonally in Indonesia, continuing her research into community invertebrate fisheries and developing of a fisheries co-management project with the Operation Wallacea Trust.

Prior to joining Blue Ventures Georgi spent 18 months working for a salmon farming company in northwest Scotland, developing an integrated aquaculture project involving the cultivation of sea urchins and seaweed alongside Atlantic salmon. Within the Blue Ventures team Georgi is responsible for management of holothurian mariculture project, and expanding this initiative to other communities within the Velondriake network.
