After University, Charlie worked as a Presenter and Educational assistant at Living Coasts in Torquay and the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth.
Charlie has been working with Blue Ventures since 2007 when she started as an intern in the London office. Following a subsequent year working as a field scientist in Andavadoaka, Charlie lead a number of marine research expeditions to other areas of Madagascar’s west coast, south to Fanombosa and Itampolo and north to Maintirano, working with other research organisations in the region including WWF, Madagasar National Parks (MNP) and CORDIO (IUCN).
In August 2009 Charlie became established in her role as the Marine Research Coordinator at the new field site in Belo-sur-Mer where Blue Ventures are working with Madagascar National Parks to create a marine extension to the existing terrestrial Kirindy Mite National park. Charlie will lead all marine and coastal research in the Belo-sur-Mer region that will help local communities to effectively zone and manage their natural resources, replicating Blue Ventures’ experiences from Velondriake.
