Shawn has lived and worked in Madagascar since February 2005.

Project Coordinator since January, 2009, Shawn first came to the country as a US Peace Corps Volunteer when he lived in the north west as an agricultural extension agent and environmental education teacher. Previous to Blue Ventures, he worked as Project Coordinator for the British NGO, Reef Doctor. He has a degree in Environmental Science and Policy from the University of Maryland where he graduated summa cum laude.

Shawn's professional interests are Malagasy history, language, and culture as well as community-based conservation and the adaptation of traditional village justice systems to sustainable resource management.
